MBOSCers,We were very happy to see so many familiar faces at the BLM Public Scoping Meetings for public access to the Cotoni Coast Dairies National Monument! Thank you to everybody who made time to attend these meetings and speak-up for trail access. Everybody who stood-up for trails shared thoughtful comments and represented us as a user group in the best possible way! Here's an overview of what people had to say at the two public scoping meetings:

Letter Writing Workshop @ Santa Cruz Bicycles

Friday, July 26, 5:00-7:00pm
Join MBOSC and Santa Cruz Bicycles this Friday to write a letter to the BLM stating your support for mountain bike access at CCDNM! We'll have everything you need, including stamped and labeled envelopes, pre-written letters, blank paper if you'd like to write your own, and talking points. This is a really easy way to show your support. Santa Cruz Bicycles will be showing their new 50to10 movie in the showroom, and beer from Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery will be aplenty. All you have to do is show up! Remember that public planning is decided by those who show up!
Thanks for making your voice heard!

Are you excited for the Harvey West Pumptrack Jam this Saturday!? MBOSC is excited to partner with local bike party extraordinaires, Good Times Crew, to host the first ever Pumptrack Jam on July 27 at Harvey West Park! True to it's name, the event will be a free-flowing proper pumptrack jam, building up until we will have a highest jump contest at the end. There will be heaps of prizes, a raffle, beer, and delicious food for you to enjoy. The competition is free, and we will be asking for a nominal donation for beer and food, all proceeds benefit MBOSC. We're looking for key players to help us put on this event, from beer pourers to event registration. Please sign up to help out by clicking here!

We've got big plans for the Harvey West Pumptrack this week, and we need all hands on deck! We're redoing a lot of features, adding a new jump, and we want to finish all of this in time for the Pumptrack Jam this Saturday, July 27. Tuesday is the big day where we're hoping to get the most help, and we'll be out there from 8:00-5:00pm! Please drop-in to help us out any other day this week, too, Monday through Friday, from 8:00-2:00pm. Our Trails Crew, Cob, Peter, and Bruce, will be managing the project, with help from our Summer High School Trail Crew. No RSVP necessary, but please do give us a shoutout if you're going to make it! Text Cob at (831) 588-4104 if you have questions or to let him know you'll be there. Thank you!
The City Parks and Recreation Department hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 19 at 4:00pm to celebrate the new pumptrack in Grant Park. The "Grant Park Neighbors" group enthusiastically supported the pumptrack's installation at the Grant Park, and it has been a welcomed addition to the park. Riders of all shapes and sizes lined up to try it out immediately and it has been heavily utilized ever since. Get more details here.
Some trails to be closed in SDSF and Nisene Marks as CAL FIRE and State Parks work to reduce wildfire danger. Some trails and access points may be closed for 2-4 weeks, during the daytime on weekdays as crews shred and crush brush along the summit-area roadways. Work is expected to begin mid to late July, and will likely take 4+ weeks to complete. Click here for more details.
