EXO is a protection layer, not the casing.

EXO is a sidewall protection layer, not a casing, and is typically added to a single-ply casing. The casing is normally 60 TPI or 120 TPI fabric in Maxxis MTB tires.

DH-Casing is a dual-ply 60 TPI casing. Meaning twice as much casing fabric is used to add structure and support to the tire along with durability. DoubeDown is a dual-ply 120 TPI casing, lighter fabric for a lighter tire that splits the difference between a reinforced single ply tire and a full-on DH-Casing tire.

There is a version of the Minion DHF that has an EXO protection layer over a DH-Casing. It's burly, perfect for really rocky bike parks.
