Maxxis Medusa, where on earth???

Hmn I have a couple pairs of 1.8's. Didn't think they were hard to find. I'll check at work tomorrow and see who carries them.

Where are you located? I'm in Montreal... I don't think it matters as distributors are mostly country-wide AFAIK...

I'm in Ontario and yes distributors are nation wide. Couldn't actually find them through anybody. Guess I must have bought mine online.

Too bad. Because they are the tire of choice for the weather you guys are having.

Yeah they are my favorite for deep mud with little or no roots/rocks.

I do find them a little slippery on the rocks and roots. Ithink the compound may be a bit hard. The trade off is they actully for a mud tire roll not too bad.

For wet rocks, roots and mud the Bonti Mud-Xs are good, but they are painfully slow on the hardpack.

How wet is it out there right now? I fly out east tommorow.

If you're talking about Quebec I'm not sure. I am heading to St Felicien on Thursday and am tempted to pick up some Mud-X's for that. My only choice right now is Hutchinson Piranha or Maxxis Medusa..............not ideal.

The weather forcast is promissing. Looks to be drying out.

I know if it is wet there Catharine will either use Medussa's or Ignitor's. Hoping for dry though, she has this new protype Maxxis tire that is fast.

Having never been there I am going by the assumption that it is super rocky and rooty. If Catherine likes the Medusa there in the wet does that mean it isn't?

Catharine is really good in wet rocks and roots. Good enough that she can ride them well on a tire that doesn't suit them.

Basically if there is deep mud she will go with Medusas but if is wet without deep mud she will probably go with Ignitors.

I don't know what the course is like. Catharine has only raced there once. I think it is typical Quebec course though.

Also remember her tire choice is limited to Maxxis. She may choose a Medusa because it is the best tire avaible to her, but that doesn't mean it is the best tire for those conditions.

Good point. Maxxis really only has one rubber compound which is quite firm. Thanks for the info.
