Anyone get their hands on one yet? I just saw they are making them and I was running a 2.5, I really like 2.6's so I wonder how different the knobs and rolling resistance is?
I’ll buy this as soon as I can find one!

Where was the annoucement made? The Maxxis site is so slow to add new size variants--they still haven't added the 2.6 Dissector thats been on sale for a while now.

They have it on their website and worldwide cyclery also does too but unavailable. They told me hopefully April.

Ah, in the 27.5 section. only 8 grams more than EXO, its seems a no brainer. a 2.6 Assegai/Dissector combo on a 27.5 bike would be awesome.

I was pleasantly surprised how the 2.5 rolled and hoping the 2.6 is about the same.

The 2.6 Assegai's are 120TPI, which should make the tire more supple and further reduce rolling resistance (at the expense of sidewall/casing durability).

In general Maxxis's 2.6 tire casings are thinner and much more supple than their 2.5" tires and they feel like they roll a lot faster, but they are more fragile and are less supportive under hard cornering. IIRC I believe most 2.5" Maxxis tires weigh more than their equivalent 2.6" tires, which supports what I felt on the trail.

The EXO + 2.6 tires, IMO, are a great middle ground. They give you the cush and grip of the regular 2.6 but the casings feel more supportive like a 2.5" casing.

The Assegai DH has replaced the DHF and DHR on my DH rig. Really like it a lot. More grip. Rolling resistance - can't say.

Once the Assegai comes out in a 275 x 2.6" in an EXO+ that will go on the front and rear of my AM/trail bike. I like running the same on both ends so I can keep a backup ready more easily.

Bump - who's got the 2.6" EXO or EXO+ yet? If so, how roll compared to the DHF? I'm looking to replace the DHF in the front. Not sure what to replace the rear Aggressor yet.

Gonna mount it this weekend and try it. Just compared knob to knob I mounted tires the 2.5 knobs were wider. Nothing reliable there. Curious how wide it is gonna be. My 2.5 was 2.5 at the knobs so we shall see!

I run the 2.5 on my dh bike and the 2.6 on my trail bikes. Both corner great. The 2.5 is noticeably slower because of it’s heavier, so it feels much better on the bigger bike.

I only run them as front tires.

So I got it mounted and it is visibly taller than the 2.5 but width wise so far is the same/ hair bigger. It’s 2.43 sidewall and 2.53 knobs. Pumped it up to 35 for it to sit overnight and see what it ends up at 18 psi.

Super stoked to try it out.

Any report on how you like the 2.6" assegai? Im trying to decide whether to get 2.5 or 2.6. I have sometimes been disappointed wiith the 2.6 versions of tires because often the knob height is shortened (particularly the side knobs) or the tread isnt any wider, just the casing-giving it a crappy profile

Both the 2.5 and 2.6 measured true to size on 35id wheels. I like the ties but noticed how sensitive to pressure the 2.6 is. I even went exo+ and have to run a hair more pressure to keep it from being to squirmy. They both roll slowish so I am currently running an exo+ 2.6 dhr2 on the front.
