I've used a set for nearly 2 years. My weight is around 200 pounds and I've used them on a Karate Monkey and a Sugar 293 using the Bontrager ACX's. Caught air with them. Smashed over roots and even did some road work with them using road tires. The rim is a narrow one (19mm) and one of the results is "tire squirm" at lower psi pressures. You should be able to easily run them tubeless if you get the proper valve stem from Stan's and have at it - but of course - no official tubeless tire exists. ;)

I guess those of us who ride them and have also ridden other rims/wheelsets would say that there is a slight amount of flex in the wheelset - yet they perform well and are pretty much low maintenance. The flex has never bothered me. The 24 spoke count has always had me "wondering" at my weight - yet the wheels have not failed and remain true as the day I bought them.

The Speedcity wheelset I own is now residing on a new build for my wife and son on a Sugar 292 frame (mounted up with Superlite tubes and kevlar beaded Nanos). I see the dang things listed at $429 (and $449 for centerlock rotors) on Speedgoat.com now (up from the $365-385 range) thanks to the dollar sucking air against the Euro.

If your buddy has a set - give 'em a go and if you don't like them you can always change to something else.

225lbs. here and lovin'em on my K'Monkey. I ride over everything I can.

They are a sleeper. They really don't flex much. You just have to make sure to stay on top of the bearing adjustment and they perform just great! I have two sets and got them both for under $200 on ebay.

See them perform at the Ouachita Challenge this weekend in AR.
