My guess is that for most 29'er riders, the feeling is mutual :D

But please hold your judgement. You should know that out of any 12 French bikers, only one of them is tall enough for a 29'er ;)

  Yup, can't get any of those fandangled, fancy, straight pull spokes down here or most anywhere where there's not a huge, huge cycling community. Plus if you were to look at my Pro2/Flow wheels and check the drive side spokes on the rear, you'd be truly amazed that even after they were eaten up while I was in my infancy of SS hub to fit multi cogs, are still going strong coming up on 3 years.

Eh, I am perfectly happy w/ my Hope/Flows. Not a big fan of that proprietary spoke crap anyway. The Mavics are decent wheels, but there are better, lighter and more cost effective solutions. If they don't care, why should the buying public?

I have Ksyrium Elite's on my roadie, and I love them. They have been bullet proof. I would definitely consider a comparable tubeless set of Mavic's on my MTB. BUT, for now, Stan's are very hard to beat.

Until Mavic makes a decent freehub/pawl design for their 'light' model rear-hubs I wouldn't waste another cent on this brand. They just don't seem to get it....
This. Who cares what Mavic makes or thinks. The product sucks anyway.

Think that with the average height of the population increasing year after year the 29er will be here to stay. Some of us were just early adopters of the format.
I can't believe you replied to that.

Like that.

I ride trials, downhill and xc.
I started doing flat drops (8ft) in 96'.
Wheels were my Savior and my demise. Every wheel has its place as well.
Mavic's straight pull spokes allow soooo much less rim deflection during hard cornering (a weakness in every button hook laced wheel especially at the 29er size). I'll admit the poly bushing drive hub is a weak spot, but with yearly maintenance its been fine for the thrashing I've put on mine since 09'.
I love my 2 pairs of king hubs, but until they do a straight pull I'll be running my C29SSMAX.

I don't see a reason for Mavic to build any 29 wheels unless they can adopt the bead design of Stan's which I believe is patented,

UST is not making any ground in the 29er market and considering the weight it isn't going to imho.

I would like a 819 rim in 29 though.

Waiting for my Hope/Flows to be built. Super excited. Can you post a pic of your setup?

This doesn't make sense to me and, although it depends on how much you think "soooo much" is, I doubt that it's true. Actually, as stated it's definitely not true.
