there were a few threads on this wheel set earlier this year, but I couldnt find any real world use, I know it will be hard being that they are a new for 2006 wheel, but has anyone out there had any time on them?

my main concern is the hubs, yes I know they are the DeeMax hubs, but is it true that they are the 05 model? and if so how are they holding up? I heard that they spin wicked nice but the freewheel likes to crap out after a few months is this true?

Im 165lbs full gear, currently riding rhynolights on a XT rear hub
(the hubs lasted 3 years and the hoops almost a year)

There was a pretty honest write up in Dirt Rag a couple of issues back that persuaded me. I also know of a couple guys in the area that run them and they are bombproof. The freewheel is the only complaint I have heard but the guy I know rides hard in various areas. I know he was waist deep in mud when he had a probelm with his. That said my rig should be done this week and I will give you an honest review from my POV.

They're fine.

I have lots of Mavic wheelsets, they all have the same freehub setup. I love em, haven't ever had a single problem. But I don't mind opening up the rear hub (very easy, maybe 10-15 minutes if you count taking off the cassette) a few times a year and cleaning/lubing the freehub mechanism.

If you only like to check on that kind of thing every 3 or 4 years, you probably won't like them.:p

Buy them...

I am 225lbs rigged out in gear w/a freeride pack and tools tubes etc. They have been great so far. I run them at Diablo and have had no issues with spokes coming loose, freewheel hiccups, or any out of true action. They are reliable and easy to maintain. Have had no problems with them, I highly reccomend them.

Wheels are solid. I have them on my HT and I drop just about everything that I do with my fully - with no issues at all. Stiff, not too bad for weight and spin perfectly. No issues of freewwheel bind or anything like that.
