I'm looking to upgrade the fork on my I-Drive 3.0. I spoke to the guy at my LBS who will be installing it and he suggested that 100mm will not change the geometry, but more than that would be too much. I weigh about 240; after doing much research here I believe Marzocchi has the best options for my budget (</= $300). I'm ride XC but could do more difficult terrain in the future.

There is the 2006 MX Comp http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/FK503A21-Marzocchi+Mx+Comp+Etatas+100120+06.aspx

The '07 MX Pro Air http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=13632&category=93

and '07 MX Pro Air with ETA/RV http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=13633&category=93

My objection to the '06 comp is the white gloss which will look like garbage with the red/silver scheme on my GT.

My questions are:
1.) Does 100-130mm mean it will change the geometry too much? Is it really 130mm, not 100?
2.) Is the ETA lock out worth the extra $100 on the 07's?
3.) Which fork would YOU choose out of the three and why?

answers:
1) depends, some people light a slacker head angle and taller BB, but the headtube takes more stress.
2) ETA is a pretty cool feature if your climbs are steep (and maybe short) on longer climbs i prefer not to use it...
3) I would take the Pro Air with ETA RV if the travel is adjustable on the fly (would have to check the Marzocchi website)

The other thing to consider, is that Marz forks tend to have a longer axle to crown length for a given travel than other forks. So a Marz 100mm fork will be a little longer than a RS/Fox 100mm. This may or may not have much of a noticable effect on your geometry and handling, but something to think about. FYI, I have Marz forks on my current and soon to be completed rides, and love them.
