Mary SS Fork, Bent Disc Brake Tabs?

1696 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  JTrue
Anyone had this happen? Seems like the disc brake tab on my fork is bending inward, the bolts that hold the adapter to the tab started rubbing the rotor. I ground down the bolts and reinstalled to make them sit flush with the backside of the adapter, but it makes me pretty nervous if the tab is in fact bending. Legit warranty issue, or buy a new fork?

My 2008 Mary was born with that same problem. I'm guessing it's a manufacturing glitch they had with one batch of forks. I don't think it's bending but has always been that way.

I put a small washer on my skewer that sits between the hub and the fork on the side with the brakes to hold the fork out away from the hub slightly (only about 1/32 inch or so). This allows my bb7's to be adjusted without rubbing.

I never thought this was a bad enough issue to merit warranty returns, so I've lived with it for 2 years. It's never gotten worse so my hack of a work-around has been fine. The washer is getting a bit rusty, so I should probably replace it.

You can do like OhNooo and shim it or get in touch with Haro and let them know the truth and see if they are willing to do a goodwill gesture or pro-deal.
Just FYI... This brake tab issue was mentioned in a previous thread a couple of years ago.

Jtrue, you might want to take the bike to your local Haro dealer to have them inspect it and call us on your behalf if you have any concerns.

Sounds good, I'll do that. Thanks Jill!
