After my bottle battery died years ago, i pulled it apart, its actually held together with some kind of sticky adhesive like the stuff they use for sticky mouse traps.
You could try to pull it hard enough and it might pop open but otherwise just wedge something flat like a flat-head screw driver or a butter knife into the flat part of the seam and try to break the seal without damaging the plastic and you should be able to weaken the sticky stuff's grip enough to pull it apart.
inside there is a 6 volt pack that uses 8 sub-c nicd batteries. Ive been looking for a couple of these actually (even dead ones) to convert to LIon, since you could fit a bunch of 18650s in there.
Ok, I just took it apart. It was hot melt glued together REALLY well I might add. Inside is a 5 pack of AA looking NiMH batteries. This pack is also hot melt glued to the inside of the bottle. It will not be easy getting those out of there. I am going to wait to see how my LED conversion goes before going further with disassembling.
