Many of you were hanging out for a 37mm fork with the J-Unit launch on 11th April 2019 (US Sea-Otter). Sorry guys, this one is for your kids. With a little more patience you will be rewarded. So hang in there.

Hayes have just released the Junit (pronounced "Jay-Unit") line of Youth Performance products. 20" and 24" forks, wheels, brakes and bars so the young ones don't have to struggle under cut-down adult parts any longer.

The two forks (20" and 24") are built on the Manitou Machete Boost platform.
The air spring is Expert Air which is a simpler version of the Dorado air system used in the Mattoc forks. So positive/negative self balance every time you connect the pump and it can be easily spaced up and down for travel and height adjustment.
The damper is ABS+, fully tunable and revalvable.
They take the bolt-on mudguards (fenders) as the Mattoc Boost, with no mudguards they take a 2.6" tyre, with the mudguard it's a 2.3". Last years rear-facing mud-guard can be run with no tyre size reduction.

Hey Dougal-
Do you know the difference between the 24" MACHETE JUNIT and the 26" MACHETE as far as internals go? I'm trying to decide between the YT PRIMUS JP 24 and 26. Do you know if you can upgrade the internals on the MACHETE 26"? My boy is pretty light so I'm concerned the bigger fork would not perform as well for him.
Thanks in advance!

Sure do.

The 24" Machete J-unit has positive/negative air (expert air system) and an ABS+ damper. It's a 110x15mm boost axle.

The 26" Machete J-unit has positive air and negative coil (TS air system) and an ABS+ damper. It's a 100x15mm non-boost axle.
It's the same chassis as the Circus Expert jump fork but lighter and with negative spring and damper tuned for lighter riders.
So you can also build this fork with QR axle or 110x20mm non-boost.
