right now on my Marin i run a manitou black super with the adjustabler travel to 120mm and coil spring.its a 05 model and i think it weighs 4.5lbs.(correct me if im wrong)i am very happy with the forks and have no complaints except for weight.

there are some manitou black platinums listed for a good price with the same adjustable travel but a air spring and said to weigh 3.5lbs.

am i going to like the air spring setup?is there a big diffrence?

am i really going to lose 1 pound by this change?

any info would be appreciated.

I'd pay a bit of attention to what change's there might be with damping control/options. I'm not sure if your current Black is an OEM or aftermarket version (yes, there can be differences) but you may or may not be upgrading.

Check what you have now and compare it to what your'e looking at.

Between OEM and aftermarket version's of the Black i've seen changes with wether it has IT or not, wether it has a remote lockout, lever-operated lockout or no lockout at all. I'm sure I don't need to add being aware of what brake's you're using, too, right?

Sometime's you can make a nice upgrade and sometime's you can be disappointed if you're not careful - read up on the option's. If this is an on-line (E-Bay) thing be sure you contact the seller and ask them to verify their ad's description.

As far as coil versus air - that's been discussed a lot and I really don't think you'd miss the coil as to me it sounds like you're more interested in losing weight off your bike.
