Alright. Not being paranoid or anything, i just don't want to screw over my fork. The rides I am/will be doing will get dust, sand, mud, etc. flicked up into the fork area. Is there a lube or oil or something i should use, wipe it off with a rag, stuff like that.

I've been using Finish Line Stanchion Lube on my Manitou's since mid-last year. Works great. I use it just as the instructions say and I haven't had a problem. It's kinda neat to see my bike all filthy and see the stanchions sooooo clean. :thumbsup:

Aren't Axels grease lubed??
Mine from '03 was... if yours still has the Microlube ports or if still uses grease as lubrication in the lowers, do not use stanchion lube.
First - It will fight the grease lube inside the lowers and make kind of a paste that's more sticky.
Second - It brings little benefits to the hard-chrome finish on Axel.
If yous is semi-bathm then yeah... go for the stanchion lube.
But golden rule is simply to keep stanchions clean and service the fork more often than usual if riding in nasty stuff.
