Anybody ever climb the peak called "Epic Climb" a few miles above the MASH site, just above Holy Rock? I was thinking of going up there with my son but don't know if the trail is mtb friendly. It looks good on Google Earth, actual review appreciated.

I think you're talking about Bulldog, a big climb... here you go.

p.s. If/when you go to Malibu Creek S.P., park for FREE at De Anza Community Park on Lost Hills Rd. Drop down behind all the playground equipment and you'll see a trail-- ride in via Grasslands (mostly singletrack).

De Anza Park

LadyDi,
I was looking at map for the route from De Anza Park to Malibu Creek State Park and It looks like it ends at some private property or residence near a power substation. Is this right?

you pass the power station (on your left) and there's a dirt road that forks to the left off of the paved road that continues into malibu creek state park. you can't see the trail going around the private property on google maps because it passes beneath thick trees.

alternatively you can park on mulholland and ride in from there.

Yes, just go around the power station-- keep a close eye for the trail on the other side of the access road. Keep going again after you cross Mulholland (watch for cars!). When you drop into Malibu Creek S.P. you will know by all the ppl-- turn right on Crags Rd.(main dirt road) to reach the MASH site, Bulldog and points beyond.

The place gets hot and crowded on summer weekends-- very early rides are good, mid-week rides are best.
