Every time we get a new light from Magicshine, the design and quality seems to step up a notch and the MJ-880 is no exception. The light head looks like a solid piece with some nice, polished surfaces. It has two Cree XML LEDs that claim 2200 Lumens. The battery is huge so the system weight goes up quite a bit to 522 grams.
The construction has definitely gone up but the inflated lumen claims have not gone away. With a claimed output of 2200 Lumens. We measured the lumen output to be 1473 Lumens.

1473 measured Lumens. Claimed Lumens by the manufacturer is 2200 Lumens. The Lumen-hour graph below shows how the light performs over the first three minutes of its battery cycle.
Backyard Beam Pattern Photo: Compare all lights here.
We photographed the lights in the same location setting with the same camera settings. The photos were taken in the back yard that is approximately 25 yards long. These photos feature many objects and a distinct background to analyze detail and beam pattern.
