I'd like to minimize my costs on this build, and although I'm keeping gears as an option, I don't want to ditch my magic geared SS quite yet.

Right now I'm rocking a 17 tooth rear cog with shift ramps. Front is a 36 tooth ring with shift ramps and bash ring as well.

I really like this combination of gearing, and could ride most my local terrain, but occasionally the chain will pop off. Not wanting to bash my knees...I take it easy on the steeps.

Aside from running an inner bashring up front and "sandwich" style chain guide on the cassette, what other options do I have to allow for use of my magic gear while being able to really put some power down on the climbs?

I've got a 16 tooth SS cog. The teeth are huge by comparison, so I could see it's advantages.

Who makes SS rings? Are there cool SS cogs that aren't a fortune like those spiffy Boone versions?
