Stay tuned. RCMBA is working some angles on camping/RV parking. The City of Blue Lake is absolutely into the event, so we might have something for you by race day.

For now, the Blue Lake Casino is said to have some RV parking, there is a KOA between Eureka and Arcata and further north, Patrick's point is beautiful. I am surely missing something too.

Expect 5 stages of steep raw terrain in the coastal redwoods of Humboldt County. This race is held on private timber land with a very special thanks to Green Diamond Resource Company. The trail system is currently under development for members of the Redwood Coast Mountain Bike Association (RCMBA). These trails are not yet open to the public, but this race will give you the chance to ride them all.

The trails being used are require experience and confidence of intermediate to professional riders. For this year's race, Sport and Beginner categories will be combined, reducing the categories to sport/beginner, expert, and open/pro. You may change categories no later than 5pm on Friday September 6 if you feel you belong in another category after riding the trails. All riders are encouraged to attend practice opn Friday with unlimited shuttles between 10am-6pm. Safety is a priority and we ask that good judgement is made in regard to your capabilities. All racers are required to wear full face helmets during practice and race day.

Camping will be offered again this year. We are currently working on additional arrangements but the field used last year will be available for tent camping only. RV camping is available at the near by Blue Lake Rancheria. Please indicate if you plan on camping for planning purposes.

We will have two aid stations on course during race day and one during practice at the shuttle pick up. As is with enduro, please come prepared and be as self sufficient as possible. Limited mechanical support will be available should the trails take a toll on your equipment. Light lunch/snacks will be served during Friday practice and a full meal will be served to all participants on Saturday after the race at the Mad River Brewery.

Cash purses will be awarded to open/pro categories in the men and womens field. See event schedule at the website for more information.

Registration includes:

All you can eat shuttles at Friday practice
Chip timing conducted by a professional timing company
A commemorative race token with this year's artwork (to be announced)
Aid stations on course for practice and race day
Meal and a drink following the race
Entry into raffle
Camping if you choose so

Hey - If you 2 were racing together last year, I think I'm the old guy who was lining up in front of you 2 on a couple of the stages! That worked out great because i think I can still just barely stay ahead of the boy and not worry about getting passed! See you there!!

I so wish there was XC race up and over South Fork Mtn attached to this event, I'd be there in a heartbeat. All the best to the promoters and locals going to bat for this though, I never would have imagined back in the 70s and 80s that Mad River would be doing something this incredible.

Good luck with staying in front of him this year!
