Okay now i have a Alivio cranks and it suck big time !

I want to buy a new crank something in the shimano hone pricerange, but i would like to know what are the difference between the shimano lx and hone crank (hollowtech2) because they are the same weight and they are similar !?

I would also like to know if there is any other crank that might be lighter then the hone for the same price or less (external bb needed) ?

But i am realy interested by the hone, so i want to know the difference !

Then why do they weigh EXACTLY THE SAME???? It's not because the Hones are fancier/ more expensive, b/c the price difference is about $2.
The guy at the shop told be that they are 50$ more a few days ago...

(on the shimano website the HONE are 1gr more then the lx...

The current Hone (3-ring version pictured above) does NOT have steel pedal inserts. I own the LXs, and my friend has the Hones.

There will supposedly be a different version of the Hones, with 2-rings and a bashguard, that will have steel inserts. I heard those would be available in January. I am eagerly awaiting them. I haven't had any pedal issues on my current ones, but would like something slightly more beefy (but still cheap) for my urban bike.

I'd tell that guy to go f*** himself, and find a new shop if I were you. The price difference, at wholesale, is $6.72 for the three ring version. The LX costs $100.80 and the Hone costs $107.52.

Check out Nashbar.com, you can get an XT Hollowtech crank/bb for $249 american - with the currency conversion and shipping you're still getting a better deal with Nashbar. Your bike shop is screwing you.

Or you could get the LX Hollowtech for $170 american (from Nashbar...).
