I just installed a whole 1/8 drivetrain and it is much noisier than it was. Any one have any idea why? It has a KMC kool chain, gravity maximus cranks, velosolo 17t bolt on disc cog( so now its fixed), and a velosolo 32t chainring.

Is it all 1/8", or 1/8" chain installed on 3/32" chainring/cogs? I'm unfamiliar with the brand name items you mention. The chainline issue raised by the second poster is certainly a valid question. Also, what was there earlier that was quieter?

What was on it originally was the stock 3/32 chain/chainring/cog. Now it is all 1/8. And the chainline looks straight to me.

Your best bet is to follow the chain for a few. Are you using a bash guard?? Sometimes the chain will touch. Also it could just be the chain itself. If it has a tight joint it could cause some friction--noise. Hope you figure it out, because there is nothing more annoying than an SS with drivetrain noise!!

I don't know if this might be it, but when I moved to a 1/8" drivetrain, the chain touched the crank arm ring tabs:

I was running 32-16 & moved to 34-17 to resolve the issue.

I shaved down the tabs and it still makes the noise. I think I'm going to get some of these :

Have you lubed the chain yet?

From the pic it appears you have some sag in chain but if not a tight chain will do it also.
