I apologize if this is irrelevant, but the "Find My Phone" app doesn't have to be on. I'm pretty sure that all you need is your phone registered to your iCloud account, and you should find it listed along with all of your other devices (if any) in the "Find My.app" on an Apple Desktop or the equivalent on the iCloud website under your account.
