I've been using the Lose It! app to track my calories and exercise. I would really recommend it if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch.

You input your weight, your goal weight, and rate of loss and then it sets a daily calorie target for you. Each day you can input your weight and track what you eat and your activity. Try to hit your net calorie target each day and you'll be losing 1-2 lbs per week.

I never wanted to count calories but I find this to be pretty simple and easy to look up foods and input them. It will open your eyes to what you are really taking in. I know, for me, I learned pretty quick that beer and weight loss simply do not mix.

BTW it is free and I am just a user, not involved or anything.
