Hello. I am looking to purchase a new mountain bike within next month or so.

Budget is $350 max.

here are some that I am eyeballing:

this is a bike that I really want but i'd like some of your opinions on it!(personally, I wish it came with more features like seat shocks, etc..) I like the white frame/black wheel combo

any recommendations? its mostly for city and bike trail riding...i don't think im doing any rigorous mountain biking off trails...
what is hardtail or full suspension?
age 32, 6 ft. 1 in., 167 lbs.
I'll buy anywhere the price is right.

That craigslist bike isn't worth what he's asking for it. It's probably not worth what he's asking if it was a new bike.

You can find some bikes at that price in bike shops. Also, for the kind of riding you're describing you don't need a mountain bike, it may not even be the best choice. A good hybrid with narrower (but still wide) tires and a rigid front fork will be faster and in my opinion more fun on bike paths and multi use paths and city streets.

ok thanks..well its just that i've always had mountain bikes in the city ...so i figured i should stick w/ mountain bikes, lol...i don't know any better..didn't even know hybrids existed.

any recommendaions? brands? only thing about bike shops is all they got is specialized, gt, giant, trek, schhhwinnnngggg, etc...

i really like that smith wesson one. that is police bike. your thoughts?

All those brands you mention make decent bikes. The S&W looks okay for the price, but I've never seen one in the aluminum, if you will. All the PD bike patrols I've seen ride "bike shop" brand bikes.
