Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first softtail. A co-worker has a 2004 Giant NRS medium frame aluminum. I don't yet know the exact details of the components, but I do know it has disk brakes, top of the line hubs and upgraded wide tires. It will be somewhere between $700 and $800. It is in great condition. Is this more or less a good price. If not, about how much can a new one be had for?

Sounds ok to me, do you have a pic of it you could post? It would make it a lot easier to determain if you are in fact getting a "deal".

I think a good rule of thumb for used bikes is about half of MSRP, if the bike is in good shape and not totally obsolete...

I believe that in 04 there were several models of the NRS available, with differing levels of Components and corresponding prices, there was even a high end carbon model.
Hard to tell how this deal is without knowing the specifc model.

FWIW, I paid $800.00 for my brand new 05 NRS, ( the base model) last Jan. The bike listed for $1,599.00 when first available in '05.
