Does anyone have a recommendation for a bicycle carrier that works with an FS AM style frame that also fits a sedan trunk? I have a allen bike rack that works with bikes with "regular" top tubes well enough but discovered that I cant mount a FS bike on it so now need to find a solution. I drive a sedan (vw passat) and so am hoping someone has a recommendation.

thanks.

Put a trailer hitch in and get one of 1UP USA racks. Unlike all other hitch racks you can take it off and fold and put into trunk when not in use - and buy with just one tray.

Completely worth it IMO. Now only if they finally sell me a roof-mountable add-on tray, still delayed.
Hey pretty neat. Although I was trying to stay away from having my trunk drilled to install a hitch for vehicle resale reasons.

I did just find a what I hope is a stellar cheap solution in a top-tube adapter bar that is typically used with mixtie/womens bikes as I understand. A bar that secures under the stem and extends to the seatpost that you can use as an artificial top tube and mount on a bike carrier such as the generic one I have..$30!

bike is a diamondback mission, I have a Allen 1025 2 bike carrier that has been a simple and utterly solid companion for quite some time but the spacing of the "load arms" wont accomodate the bike..close but not close enough.

Saris bones work eh? I almost bought one off those at the beginning of the season thinking I was going to update my old plain looking rack, but the old Allen has been rock solid.

I found this one from "hollywood racks"... looked like just the fix so I think I'll give it a go and see how she does.

This sucker works really well: http://www.saris.com/bike-racks/veh...ges_norating.tpl&product_id=40&category_id=10

I have one and have driven thousands of miles (literally) with my bike on my Bones trunk rack. A couple of companies make them, the Saris one is solid, secure and strong. I had a cheap one before it and it broke - almost dumped my bike on the road.
