I'm currently riding a WTB Weirwolf 2.55 and I want bigger. Is there anything on the market currently that offers a larger casing or larger overall volume?
Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.40
Maxxis Ardent 2.40
Maybe the Bonty FR3 2.35

The Racing Ralphs are great. I just installed them last week, it's really light at 580+grams (Yes I weighed them). But the sidewalls are really thin. Just when you think the mountainkings 2.4 have thin sidewalls, this one takes the prize. But it's really comfortable, grippy and faster rolling than the MK2.4 too.

By chance does anyone have any pics of these tires mounted? Would they fit on an '07 Reba, or the rear of my GF Rig? I am on Mt. Kings 2.4/2.2 now and wondering what else is out there.

Thanks Ross
(I know I could search but am being lazy... Anyway pics would help this thread:thumbsup: )

According to Shiggy, the Maxxis Ardent 2.4s have a slightly higher volume index (how do you measure that, anyway, Shiggy?) than the WW LTs. Volume is the amount of space inside the tire, irrespective of the tread size. The Ardent also have bigger tread than the LTs. I love my LTs and have Ardents on order.

Details here.

The volume index is based on outside dimensions for practical reasons.

Tread width of the Ardent 2.40 is 61.1mm
MK 2.4: 60.5
MK 2.2: 52.3

Shiggy has an official 2.4 Ardent tire!

I've got to mount my Ardent 2.4's up again (took them off for the winter to run the Fire XC Pros) to see if they have "grown" any since last summer.

When mounted brand new on my Blunts with a tube at 40 psi, my tread width measured 60mm and casing 58mm. Shiggy, what did you get for CH (casing height) on the one you measured at 61.1mm tread width?

Casing width/ht 58.7/55.0mm. This was a prototype, not a production tire.
