good local site: www.bikemojo.com/speak Rental Bikes, not sure someone on the Mojo can prob. help. local rides again on mojo, you can also check out http://austinbike.com for places to ride. In town there's some urban stuff, McAllistar Park, OP, 45min to ~1hour is good stuff in the hill country.
check out government canyon @ 1604 and culebra turn west 3.5 mile turn right travel aprox 2-3 miles before rd curves you will see the brick wall w/lettering great trail w/many skill levels. enjoy live life ride!

but last I checked, it's only open to biking Friday - Monday.

Oh yeah, bring lots of water. Texas is super hot and you'll go through the water quick.
mcallister park is nice... lil bit of everthing there. leon creek below op schnabel park is a bit more technical than mcal. and alot less "Walkers" (fat people in the way!) :madmax:

O.P. SCHNABLE PARK
This is a fun place to ride with a
variety of trails. Within a short ride
from the start are majestic 40 ft cliffs
overlooking a dry stream. You can
ride around at stream level or take
the trail to the top of the cliff to a
scenic overlook. If you go far enough,
some of these trails connect with
others that criss-cross San Antonio's
drainage areas.
From 410 go north on Hwy 16
(Bandera Rd) 4.5 miles and turn right

McALLISTER PARK
Located on the north side near the
airport. It's closeness and variety of
trails makes it a favorite for all levels
of riders. For the beginner there are
several asphalt trails that give you a
taste of the wild, and for the expert
there is plenty of tight, fast single
track with some technical climbing
sprinkled in.
From 281 north, take Nakoma exit.
Turn right on Nakoma and follow this
road about a half mile past the
stadium. The park entrance is on the
right.

Group (I've never ridden with them, but found the link)

Thanks for the ride info everyone.

No one knows if any shops in the area rent?

Prefer SS, but beggars can't be choosers.

They'll know where a rental is and maybe you'll find someone with an extra bike that will give you a tour.
thanks
