I will be going to Maui at the end of February and wanted to do as much riding as possible. The only half-way intelligent resource I've found is http://mauimountainbiking.com/mauimtb2.html. But that site is still living in the Geocities era circa 1997.
Does anybody have any recent experiences riding in Maui? Any suggestions, what to ride, where to drink beer or any other advice is greatly appreciated.

I have some bad news... I was in Maui last Feb myself and overall found the mtb riding to be a bit lacking. I can't give you the exact page to my blog right now (long story, I'm @ work and can't access many social networking pages), but if you go to http://beardedbiker.blogspot.com/ and look back to posts last year (I probably posted in late Feb or early March), you'll be able to see some GPS data of some of my rides. My wife and I brought our own bikes and I don't think we used them as much as I had been hoping. I *think* there is more riding than is evident, but you'll need a guide... something I don't typically like to do. If I remember correctly, the best riding I found was here: http://www.bestplaceshawaii.com/tips/hidden_places/polipoli_area.html.

Good luck!

The Bearded One is right on at least one count....quite a bit of trails exist here, but not much of it on public land, making it necessary for a local rider to show you the way.

Makawao Forest Reserve and Poli Poli State Park offer most of the legal riding, with some fun singletrack to be found in both places. But if you came to Maui and saw that only these 2 places exist for riding, things would certainly seem lacking.
