Anyone have any suggestions on a commuter bike that is super compact (compact frame, small wheels) but still fits a medium size rider reasonably, and has good brakes? I don't want the weight and complexity of a folding bike.

The use case is commuting less than 1 mile in the city, flat with no hills.

So far any bike that I've been able to find that are designed to be compact are folding bikes.

If it doesnt fold, it wont get that much ch smaller. I do recall a Canondale that used 20” slicks, not sure if they still make it. I do see some people using 20” BMXs to, 1 mile you could ride just about anything. Even a skateboard or scooter.

Did you google yourself? I just did a quick search on "20 inch compact bike" and it came up with at least 3 brands/models. It just wont help you much because I am in germany/europe and therefore get local results.

I also have memories of a cannondale bike but there is nothing listed on their website anymore. Must be a retired model.

I would also suggest to look in stores that have stuff for car / RV camping. I have seen some of those bikes and always in tourist areas where a lot of RVs are riding around.

Good luck.

When I google it, I get nothing but folding bikes
Why do you need something super compact?

Just get a folding bike and don't fold it. Here's one right at 30 lbs. Pretty sure you can handle that for a 1 mile commute on flat land.

As you mentioned, if designed to be compact than they are folders. Not much demand for full side bikes with small wheels.

My BMX cruiser is pretty small compared to my other bikes. They have 24 inch wheels, and are a breeze to maintain being just one speed.
