The Yellow Kirins are pretty big-at least a 2.3, probably more like a 2.4. I haven't had them long enough to comment on wear, but I do like the profile and they roll pretty fast.

What kind of riding? Intense makes true to size 2.35's, and the 60compound isnt as fast wearing as the FRO. Ordered my 2.7 and 2.5 today....cant wait to try em out :D

Don't get all hung up on the actual tire size. As someone said on Ridemonkey, riding tires is a lot more fun than measuring them.

Why do you care if it's exactly 2.3 as long as it gives you adequate traction? If you ride 'em and find you want something bigger, then buy something bigger. The 0.1" difference in tire size isn't going to make a large difference in traction.

Well, I had a pair of WTB Mutanoraptors on my old K2 that worked really well for urban. Really low rolling resistance, and still good traction....also light. The Intenses are going to be heavy, and probably will have more rolling resistance. I liked the Mutanoraptors a lot, if I got a new urban bike, they might go on it.

There's a lot more to tire size then "looks".

First, tires stretch. So ride 'em for a week, then measure.

Second, are you measuring? Or just giving a cursory glance and dismissing them as too small?

Third, what are you measuring? Tread or casing?

Tire sizings vary a whole lot from manufacturer to manufacturer. If you start getting anal about what exact size your tire is, you're going to drive yourself out of your mind. There are things worth being picky over, but this isn't one of them. Just ride 'em.

Actually its 100% valid to be picky over tire size. If your fork (2003 Marz for example) or your rear-end don't have a ton of tire clearance - if you just buy a tire cause X brand fit, Y brand won't or the mud clearance might be shite, etc...

That's not being picky at all. That's like saying wanting a 20mm hub to fit your 20mm fork axle is being picky.. You're bound by the constraints of your bike. He's not, he just got tires that look a little small to him.

I'm not even saying don't get new tires, I'm just suggesting he actually ride them/give them a chance before saying that they're way too small...

I just picked up a pair of yellow kirins, they are just about 2.3, as close as you can get. As for wear, it's too early to tell. The tioga factory dh tires are 2.3, and lasted me a long time.

Can you machine me some new hydro lines?
i would post pics, but they are in their prototype stage (covered with electrical tape) and i am concerned that someone would try to poach my design before i got my patent approved....
