I'm from Hinesville, GA and am getting tired of spending a butt load of money on gas to drive 4 to 5 hours for weekend rides in northern Georgia and SC. I'll still do it, but not near as much as I used to. I am looking for some decent technical trails or hell, just fun trails in the Jacksonville area which is a lot closer for me to drive to.

Jacksonville rides

Hanna Park just NE of downtown is City owned and has a trail system. If you don't mind a short drive, head up to Fort Clinch at Fernandina Beach for a more enjoyable trail.

I would guess Hanna has < 10 miles that wander around in the palmetos, and is mostly flat w/palmeto roots being the biggest challange. Fort Clinch has a 6 mile loop with some short climbs and runs through a lot of moss covered live oaks. There are 2 camp grounds, one on the beach and the other on the river - both very nice. We spent a weekend there last Spring and a couple of runs each day was very enjoyable. Don't know how the summer's rain and heat will affect your rides, but from S Fla, I'm thinking Tsali/Bent Creek;)

Tried Tom Triplett?

Tom Triplett park in Pooler offers 7.3 miles of tight twisty singletrack. It is just East of I95 on highway 80. We have a group ride there on Wednesday at 5pm. This same group also gets together for trips to Augusta, Columbia, Ocala, Jacksonville and Pisgah (Ashville). If you are interested in being added to our email list please PM me.

I'd say you could head down to Reddick or Ocala to ride Santos or Razorback, but from Jacksonville that's a 3 hour ride or so, and if I were you I'd just head 3-5 hours north of Jax and find some real mountains.

Triplett....

That is my usual ride.....get about 3 or 4 loops in.....went out there this last saturday to fix the bridge.....someone beat me too it....wound up leaving some lumber there for the future. If I had the time on Wednesdays I will see about hooking up with you guys! Was just looking for something else outside the Savannah area.....

Haven't tried the trails by Jacksonville, but if your looking for really fun and challenging trails that are relatively close to the GA border the consensus is for Razorback and Santos. These are about two and three hours from Jacksonville, respectively.

I live in brunswick and we've (the wrenches from two of the three area bike shops) have built some decent trails at blythe island park here in brunswick. theres a group that gets together every sunday morning and a few nights after work if you want to hook up with us. a lot of switchbacks and short steep natural climbs. other than that we trek to ft clinch, hanna, razorback, and santos.

I know this is short notice...

I plan on driving down to Brunswick on Monday (tomorrow). I'm sure you guys will be working but if you could give me some quick directions to the park, I would greatly appreciate it. Hell, I'm probably going to drop off in one of the stores too anyway, I need to pick up some stuff for my road bike.

Go see Fred and Roddie at Griffen Bike & Mower and tell them Jamie sent you. They are the ones that got the trail started and can give you directions from there and they sell more roadie stuff than we do. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow so i wont be able to ride. I plan on riding tuesday night and wednesday for sure.
