I've been riding a fixed road bike for a while, and am thinking of going SS offroad as well. So I'm looking at my options for a SS frame. Right now, I've got a couple ideas, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Here are my parameters:
1. Inexpensive: I want to keep the whole build under $1000, so that rules out custom frames.
2. Steel (or Ti, ha ha): Currently pushing an AL hardtail, and would like a little more give. Plus, my roadies are steel and they are great.
3. Discs: I'll probably get some Avid mechanicals, so disc brake bosses...
4. No track ends: With the discs, I'd like to avoid the constant readjusting of brake alignment, etc. I'm not adamant about this one, as long as it still grooves with #6.
5. 26" wheels: Don't want to rock the boat, but it's the one I choose.
... and the one that makes it all a lot harder:
6. Derailleur hanger: I'd like the option of going back to a 1x9 setup in case my knees explode.
So far, the only frames I've found that meet these are the Kona Explosif, Voodoo Wanga One, and possibly the new On-one Inbred (if I deal with readjusting the brakes). Are there any other frames that meet these criteria that I should know about? Does anybody have experience with these?
