How do you get Loctite to dry on a bolt before assembly? I have some bolts that I want to "stripe" with some blue Loctite (242), but it doesn't seem to be drying (at room temp).
Loctite dry in the absence of air!
you should clean the bolt and nut of all oil before applying
clean with a degreaser .

The Loctite that you see pre-applied to bolts is not the same stuff you buy at the hardware store. It's a special formula only available to bolt manufacturers. I don't know where you'd find some for home use.

There's a version of loctite that comes in a tube just like chapstick that you rub on the bolts. This is what I keep in my toolbox and would work perfectly for what you want to do. I got it at an auto parts store locally.
