I have a bike with a Surly Spacer kit and Surly lockring. It is flush with the last spacer when tightened, and it doesn't make any sound.

On my other bike, I had a shop build it up SS, they used a lockring that is pressed against something that looks like a toothless 11t cog. It has the serrations that make a clicking sound.

How do you set up your SS ?

a. lockring and last "cog" or

b. lockring against the last spacer?

Does one seem to work better?

I don't have a good pic of it. But it looks like this, but the "teeth" are ground down.

It would seem everyone else used up all the ****ing spacers.

It's all filler. Don't sweat it.

i agree with TroutBum - as long as it does not give you any trouble, it's all good, consider this to be a weird-looking spacer

you mentioned a clicking sound... i assume that's when you're tightening a lockring, not when you're riding ?

Clicking sound only when tightening lockring, like a geared cog set. No clicking sound when riding.
