i purchase a lizard skin carbon fiber chain stay. i installed as directed. i heated it up then installed on frame then heated again to fit contour of frame. i checked it an hour later and it started to peel off. so i heated it up again and then wraped electrical tape around it so it would hold in place. i peeled it off a day later and everything stayed fine. i just checked it and it has peeled off again. the only side that pulls away from the frame is the inner side of the frame. any suggestions?

I just got those lizard skin things, they suck! I suggest to get a hole new lizard skin thing.
Hockey tape works best, and it's light too.

Absolutely. Rip it off and throw it out. Like you, I followed the instructions to a T, only to have this stupid thing peel of every time you turn your back to it. It would never do it when you were looking right at it. Only when your back was turned.

Anyway, I tossed it and got the Lizard Skin chainstay protector with the velcro strip instead. Superb.
I did the same thing and went and got the original chain stay protectors. Now the carbon fibre square frame protectors work awsome!!! The carbon chain stay protector is sitting around her someplace.
Go to Auto zone

or whatever brand auto parts store is near you and get some "black super weatherstrip adhesive" it comes in an orange box. I've tried all the other adhesives and this stuff works the best

Rub all of the factory adhesive off of the back of the lizard skin protector. If it was like mine it should come off pretty easily just start at a corner and go across.

READ the directions on the box for using the new adhesive and use it to reapply the protector. This black stuff is really bad and it will ruin your clothes or whatever else it touches if you aren't careful with it.
Or just use an old inner tube and some contact glue. Simple, quiet, cheap.
I got this stuff called stay wrap from my lbs. It's plastic and is coiled like a phone cord. I use that with tape on each end. This stuff is bombproof.
Add me to the list of unsatisfied customers with the carbon fiber guard--peeled off despite my following the directions (i.e. cleaning with alcohol, etc.) After the first couple of tries, I gave up on the adhesive and tried superglue--still didn't work.
That carbon chain stay thing is the worst. I ended up using twist ties to hold it on. After a few weeks though, I thought it looked sheisty and changed it to the classic velcro one in red. STAY AWAY FROM THAT CARBON CHAIN STAY THING AT ALL COSTS<----EVERYONE, THIS IS YOUR FAIR WARNING!!!

I think that warning is too late for me, because I have one, and it is falling apart, and it is held on by two zip tyes
