After a bit of a disaster with a Tune freehub body as below and its replacement now making some rather worrying noises I'm in need of a new rear 28h hub. My first thought had been XTR, but apparently they no longer do them in 28h. So, any recommendations for a light 28h rear disc hub which will cope with singlespeed use? i.e. not one that has a wafter thin freehub body shell. DT 190 is the only one I can seem to see, and they are a bit pricey really.

The ENO could be alright, though I do occasionally want to use a cassette as well. The White cassette hub looks like it could be an option. The local DT importers are saying the 240s is no longer available in 28h. The Kozak seem maybe a bit too cheap to lace to Reynolds rims. King also could be an option...


Any other ideas?

I have been using the 28h Rotaz hubs. They spin really well, probably because the seals aren't the tighest. I built them into a race/limited use wheelset so I am not concerned about the seals keeping things super clean. Plus, they are RIDICULOUSLY easy to take apart and clean.

I'm enjoying my Rotaz, the "whirrring" of the multi-point engagement is actually kinda subdued... like an RC car motor noise compared to say the clack-clack-clack noise my Hope Pro2 hub makes.

Mail him and tell him exactly what you need.
These hubs are awesome (optic over Chris King imo) and you get nearly everything you want regarding number of holes, flanges high or low, colour, custom printing and so on.
He is a specialist for track hubs, could be interesting for someone who look for singlespeed hubs ;-)

The mack's are Novatecs. The freehub body is the giveaway.

The freehub body is Novatec, thats right (and it's about classes more durable and established as this every year "improved" Chin Haur crap you prefer ;-). For me is a fully developed Novatec freehub body absolutely a big plus. Bearings are EZO (in standard size).
The hubbody, caps, axles, laser-printings and anodizing are made by Mack (partly from himself) in poland (and of course the development).
Front disc hub: 96g
Rear disc hub: 228g
To hold this hubs in hands and saw this incredible perfect finish, these accuracy in fitting and the smooth spinnig is pure enjoyment.
As I say: over Chris King for me (the future will tell us more).

I just got some DT 240 hubs (centerlock) in 28h not more than two months ago. I don't know why they wouldn't be available.

I would strongly recommend DT190 or 240 hubs. They are some of the lightest, most durable hubs around (240s are even used for DH, if that tells you anything), and with the new 36t ratchet upgrade, freehub engagement is acceptably fast for even the most demanding technical terrain.

Another Rotaz user. They've been great so far. About 200 miles into them. Built with Revos (32H) and Olympics, if I remember correctly 1255g. They were built to be a race wheel set, but I can't force myself to take them off...

I own a set of the 28H Rotaz ones in black and I haven't decided yet whether I want to lace them to 26" or 700C rims.

Resurrecting old threads, three years after, how are the Mack's doing?
I can't find a lot of feedback, I'll be building a 27.5 wheelset and the superlight disc hubs sound as a good option.
Do you know how many POE they have, they don't have the info on their website.
