I've got some money burning a hole in my pocket (and, no, you can't have any of it) and I was thinking about buying a light for riding. I would use it for an occassional night mtb ride but more frequently on my commute on a dark bike path. <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />
Would one light suffice? I was thinking helmet mounted would be my first choice. Would two lights (one helmet, one handlebar) be overkill for my intended use? What about a double light on the helmet or handlebar? What about one light on the helmet and two on the handlebar? Is an HID overkill or would an LED light work best?
Although I like the idea of 24hr racing, the reality is that there isn't enough time in the day for me to train for it so I won't be using the light(s) for racing.

I'd say just get a good bar light if you ride on the road at all on your commute.

A HID sounds plenty for what you said.

All the HIDs pretty much use the same solarc bulb. I Use a trailtech one. Is bright enough to get car to dip there beam before they get around a corner to find a dud on a push iron hehe.

Lights

I recently purchased the following from Pricepoint. I use them on the road.

47004 Niterider Trail Rat 2.0 1 $89.98
47027 Niterider Tail Light 1 $58.98

The tail light is phenomenal. At night it can be seen for miles (no exaggeration) and during the day it has a discernable effect on drivers that pass me. I haven't ridden off road with the headlight but on the road it lights like a motor cycle light.

That's my $0.02 worth anyway,

Later,
