That's difficult question since most manufacturs don't post weights of their lower-end bikes. That being said when I bought my Specialized RH Comp Disk for $700 it weighed in at 30lbs. After a wheelset and post/handlebar/stem upgrade it was down to under 26.

BTW...if I may ask...I'm going through your posts...what's the big obsession with weight. Some of your posts say you want a sub-25 lbs hardrock. A "lightweight XC" that can take abuse. The frame will be able to take abuse...but the components won't.

That being said. Check out this post of a super light HR. http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=103995

Its not all about weight. Its about how comfortable you bike is. How it performs. How durable it is. And how it fits your riding style.

i wouldn't buy a bike just because it is the lightest. Go to your LBS and test out some bikes. If you find a bike that you like but isn't the lightest upgrade some parts.
