Here's a question I've had on my mind for a while now. How do the high end light weight parts hold up? Is there a sacrifice in durability for the lighter weight?

My experience with ice hockey skates is that the more you spend on a skate for exotic materials/light weight the less life you get out of it. Just wondering if it's the same with bike parts.

That's pretty much it. As with every rule there are exceptions, but the lighter a MTB part is, the less durable it will generally be. They're more likely to fail too. So if you want a bike that rides well and lasts well, stay away from the super light stuff and go for a good quality medium quality build.
