Light/compact pouch or EVA case for Tubolito?

2031 Views 13 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  drjos
I just picked up a couple Tubolitos so I'm not carrying full weight 29er tubes all the time. They seem to need about 10cm x 7cm x ~2cm space the way that they're folded. Currently I'm packing them in triple ziploc bags for protection but it would be nice to maybe have something a little more durable without adding much weight or bulk.

Any ideas on what would work? I spent a lot of time last night trying to figure this out and didn't find anything particularly compelling.

I have this mounted on my Spur with a Tubolight and a bunch of other stuff too:

B-RAD TekLite Roll-Top Bag 0.6L – Wolf Tooth Components

Wolf Tooth makes some incredibly cool products.

That is very cool. (y) That said, mea culpa, I should have been clearer that I'm looking for something as minimal as possible to fit inside a hip pack or the bottom of a hydration pack. Something like a really tiny packing cube.

I figure there must be some folks who hit on something that nails a good balance of tiny size, very light weight, and a little bit of protection from abrasion and cuts that could happen in a pack.

Tube Tarp or maybe Tulbag could be an option?

The irony that you need a thin protective bag for a tube that is supposed to take the beating of being inside a mountain bike tire is not lost on me...

Used coffee bean bags are cheap (included with your coffee beans (y):coffee:), compact, waterproof, and very durable. It'll protect your tube until you need it, whether on your frame or in your pack.

Cut and tape a little custom pouch or wrap from tyvek (you can get it from certain usps envelopes), that stuff is really tough for its weight.

This was made just for you: biketubebrand.com/accessories/tubesock

Or cutting a corner out of a Tyvek mailing envelope might be lighter, and durable though a little less protective.

Some very promising recommendations thanks :) For now, going to experiment with Tubesocks, an XS Eagle Creek Pack-It bag, and will keep an eye open for a Tyvek mailer.
Small, holds a lot, very secure, very water/mud resistant.
