hi, all:
i'm doing a bike build and am looking for a brake that is at least equal to (preferably more powerful than) some old (2004?) hope mono m4s (183mm rotors).

here's the catch: i'd like to know what options are out there for this performance in a lighter package. i measured the hope system (levers + hoses + calipers + rotors + fluids + all bolts) @ around 930g for the set. w/o rotors, the hopes weigh about 300g per brake.

what options do i have?

thanks for any input.

thanks for sending that link. i've seen the weightweenies site before, but the parts are generally CC-oriented, and although there are descriptions in some cases i'm not quite sure what has been included.

the photos in the sicklines database reduce the chance of inaccurate weights being reported; more importantly (for me), they eliminate all confusion as to what is being measured.

The brakes you seek are the Avid Elixir CRs.

They are light and have good power. They are also very adjustable.

Here is a nice summary: http://www.sicklines.com/weights/discbrakes/

For power, modulation, and light weight... Da Ones are tough to beat. But they require finesse to maintain properly, hey they're Italian.

Just an note, clicking on the column titles on that site sorts the items by that title.
IE click Real(g) and it'll sort lightest first, or heaviest first...
its not that obvious to some ...
