Looking for an affordable cross country wheelset and have came across these two companies. Can anybody give me some insight and feedback on which company I should go with? Appreciate any help

I have the BTLOS WM-i25 Extralights 28H - I run them on my gravel bike for the past 2.5 years and hit curbs and singletrack on them nonetheless. I'm 150# riding weight - zero issues. I really like that BTLOS has the different layup options regular/premium/extralight or AM/EN/DH - so you can fine tune based on your budget, weight, and intended use.

I purchased a fat bike wheelset from Light Bicycle in December. It was built pretty quickly and the customer service was fast/friendly.
The only gotcha was the cost of shipping. It added a few hundred more to the price. Despite that, it was still the cheapest carbon fat bike wheelset I could find.

Sort of off-topic--did you look at the Roval wheelsets from Specialized? I just got a couple sets for our bikes. I am very impressed with their overall value: great price, decent weight, and they ride feels awesome.

Light Bicycle has a US presence, but BTLOS has better deals. Both make good wheels and have lots of satisfied customers. I bought my wheels from BTLOS 3 years ago and have been very happy with them.

I’m also on the BTLOS train. Got mine during their annual sale in mid November. Received them before Xmas. 1560g for less than $1100 is tough to beat for a i30 all-mountain layup..

Roval + 15% off coupon for email sign up+ 2 year no cost crash replacement+ lifetime warranty+DT hubs on many offerings+literally hundreds of Specialized lbs's for c/s make them a great option.

Sorry this doesn't answer your question at all. I just picked up a Roval Terra CL gravel bike wheel set @1388g for under $1,200 so I'm a little stoked. The specs and price were better than anything I could find from light bicycles or btlos after including shipping and taxes.

Just another datapoint:

I've now four years on lb rm29c19 rim on rear of singlespeed. Never had a wheel build up so easily. Light, feels great, no issues what so ever. They recommended spoke lengths that exactly matched what I computed with spoke calc.

One tip: they have a pretty great selection of spokes and nipples at good prices for people that buy their rims. I'd do it again if I had a reason. Order all at once to save on shipping.

Edit: hub was used chris king ss hub, rim + sapim long neck nipples and race spokes came to $250 with shipping. I see rim has dropped in price since I bought mine.

I convinced a buddy to try the BTLOS based on their reputation. Admittedly, he rides HARD and there's not a gap or drop that seems to deter him. He is hard on his gear and the BTLOS, which he had on the rear, lasted 3 weeks.
cushcore is a necessity for anyone that rides hard. I've broken my weareones when I thought I wouldn't need cushcore

It's not that he rides hard, it's that he doesn't use enough tire pressure for how hard he rides.

Two sets of Light Bicycle rims now both purchased during their Black Friday sale (2020 and 2021). They do have a North America warehouse but the sale only applies to EU and China warehouse. Takes about 6-8 weeks to receive as both sets were built to order. Excellent quality, fit and finish. Super happy so far.

I have one year on a BTLOS wheel set. They have been great, no issues and are just as true as when they arrived. I have about 1800 miles on them on an Epic Evo. The wheels are i29a rims on CXRay spokes and DT 180 hubs and weighed in at 1360 grams. I bought them on their Black Friday sale and they arrived exactly 6 weeks later.

I'm pretty sure that there's one giant facility and BTLOS, Carbonfan, Nextie, LB, etc... all come out of the same machines, sometimes the same molds. For instance, both BTLOS and Carbonfan came out with the low profile 29er rims about two years ago, identical dimensions, at the same time.

I know you think you know everything. I guess you've met him and know his air pressure? Or are you just talking out of your rear end? Were you there when he dropped a huge drop in Whistler his bent his fork lowers?
