I am considering moving up to Cat 1 this year. Most of my race experience is at non-USA Cycling events. I have plenty of experience and fitness I just tend to race more non-USA Cycling events here in CO. I wouldn't want to race expert/cat 1 in non-USA Cycling races but be stuck in cat 2 races for the USA cycling races I do ride in. Does anyone know if USA Cycling will consider non-sanctioned events as part of a petition for upgrading?

Thanks

I think they will consider non sanctioned races. I only had one sanctioned race and a bunch of non sanctioned races. They were all endurances races too and I was able to move to Cat 1. I will say though my sanctioned race was a qualifier for nationals and I finished well. Just send them an email with your results, can't hurt. (kudos to you for not sandbagging)

Email George ([email protected]) and explain your plight. If you've got good results in CO (I'm guessing the Winter Park series), he will very likely accommodate your desire not to sandbag.
