Whats a good AM bike to get for a 15yr girl she's 5'3. I'm going to go used so I can get more for the money. Also what are some good sites besides mtbr and ebay to find bikes. Smalls are hard to find. Budget is 1k and under. Thanks.

I wouldn't take my daughter AM riding lol
for used check pinkbike, ridemonkey, etc and of course craigslist. but a 15 year old 5'3'' girl doesnt need an am bike, a light 4'' xc bike should suit her fine on all but the nastiest trails.

Thanks I was on the fence on getting an XC bike or not for her. We will be riding Northstar as well as single track etc... so I was leaning for a little more bike. She is really light so a 4" xc might work well for her.

yeah, i think even for n* a 4'' bike would be fine. at her size i would check weight first, suspension second. something like an anthem or sc superlight or dakar xcr would be good, even stepping up to a trance or dakar xct or spitfire would probably be ok.

When will you guys realize that it's not funny anymore? Not from a socially conservative standpoint, but from an originality one. Older men like younger women. We get it. Move on.

I'm 5'4 (but not female) and ride a size S Chameleon.
From a short person's perspective, you definitely want something that has low standover, don't just buy any frame cus "it's a bargain". I've seen some people say that standover is not so important, but nothing as bad as an interest killer as hitting your privates with your full weight cus it's 2" too high.
At 15 and 5'3...I wouldn't worry too much if she is just barely touching the top tube or feels a wee bit stretched out on the bike with a short stem. She will probably grow into the bike over the next year or so. I wouldn't limit your search to just 4inch bikes, look around from the 4-6inch range and just find something that will fit her.

Also if you want some more specific answers like " a small transition bottlerocket will fit her best" then posting her inseam would probably help.
