Does anyone know of any good riding around Lexington and Buena Vista?

CHeck out the stuff in and around Douthat State Park, and Whetstone Ridge up off the Parkway. Douthat is fast flowy trails with plenty of climb but not much tech. Whetstone has some hike a bikes and lots of rocky ridge riding, with a sweet descent off the ridge if you dont miss the turn off the ridge.

Also, couple years ago, I did a decent fire road/forest service gravel road ride out Buena Vista, over the mt. to the east, around past some reservoir, across Rt. 60 and then back up over the mountain and down into Buena Vista. Part was on bike route 76 I think which comes off the parkway like a road grade but wasn't paved.

I have been to Douthat quite a bit and it is fun. I'll have to check out Whetstone, sounds good.

A lot of cool rides in the Arcadia area for the explorer type. Great place to get lost on purpose.

Longdale Loop

The Longdale North - Mountain Loop is a good one. It's just off of I-64 between Lexington and Clifton Forge.

It might just be the most scenic MTB ride in Virginia (can't say for sure since I haven't ridden them all). Lots of rock outcroppings and views back towards Collierstown. I've got to do that one again.
