Thanks CF... I really love my bikes. I can't say enough about the Astrix 29ers. Also thanks for the kind words about my photos also. I still can't believe that people pay me money to take pictures. Not my wedding or house, just a random job.CRAZY FRED said:Ya I had told you about a week or so ago on some thread that I thought your bikes were VERY nice.(but you had no reply).Hey I clicked onto your blog or what ever it is and man brother those are some amazing photo's..Was that your wedding? If you don't mind me asking what else have you owned or ridden for FS 29ers? And what if anything would you want to own? I mean is there a "Dream" 29er FS out there for you right now? Sorry for all the questions, thanks...........CF.cb4photo said:Thanks CF... I really love my bikes. I can't say enough about the Astrix 29ers. Also thanks for the kind words about my photos also. Had a few 26inch FS bikes, GF Sugar, 6inch 4-bar suspension AM rig and a few hardtails.CRAZY FRED said:If you don't mind me asking what else have you owned or ridden for FS 29ers? Good stuff brother, I LOVE to hear stories about people who are 100% thrilled with their bikes...I would really like to try BOTH of these frames....Thanks cb4photo......CF.cb4photo said:Had a few 26inch FS bikes, GF Sugar, 6inch 4-bar suspension AM rig and a few hardtails.
Then found the big wheels and was on a Karate Monkey for a few years, but I never felt that the frame fit me just right. Then found the Astrix Rook, looking at the geometry on paper it seem like what I was looking for. It ended up being the perfect bike for me, just felt right, and nothing on my body hurt after long rides.
So when it came time to look at 29er FS frames the Monk was pretty high on my list. Plus was able to talk to Ryan at Astrix about the diferances between it and the Rook. Others I was looking at and ended up being able to take test rides on where the Titus RacerX, Jet9 and the GF Hi-Fi 29er. I loved the way the Titus felt, we just danced together nicely, great handling, felt very light and flickable. But wanted a little more travel, and those frames were alot when I was looking. (I've seen then go for pretty cheap lately though) Didn't like the carbon fiber on the GF, the Jet was nice but also expensive. I wish I could have tried the Voodoo Canzo 29er, but was unable to find one locally.
Im pretty happy with my Monk right now, so as far as a dream bike.... Get a custom Ti hardtail based around my Astrix Rook, with a few tweaks.

Sorry, I just got back up off the floor after that one. Keep'em coming!
WOW Mark is there anything he should keep?MMcG said:Nice frame.
Definitely a great base from which to upgrade from that is for sure.
I suspect your hubs are really heavy
Exiwolfs are pretty heavy
your Dart is heavy (you know that)
Your seatpost looks heavy
your crankset too - but maybe it isn't too bad
STem is kinda heavy for that length
Bars - maybe heavy
You've got what sounds to be a decent and reliable drivetrain and the best mechanical disc brakes you can use.
Upgrade here and there over time and you'll be 30 or less easy.
Best,
Mark
Yeah mark don't be such a friggin buzzkill!CRAZY FRED said:WOW Mark is there anything he should keep?Your 100% correct though that's the sad part..I think the bike is great if this is what you had at this time..However, a white Reba 120, a nice set of white spoked Spinergy's (Which I can help you out with) a nice white low rise bar, and BAM!!!!! your good...I seem to be saying this alot lately but I'm really diggen these bikes...nice job Drag enjoy..... CF.
