Hi,

I have a Lefty M on my Jekyll and have recently returned from a great, but muddy and wet ride. I was wondering if there is any general maintenance that should be done on my Lefty after such a ride to make sure it continues to run smooth. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

You could cut the lower zip tie that holds the shock boot and stick something to allow any water or humidity to evaporate. Then, a cleaning and re-greasing of the bearings could be nice but IMO, you don't have to go through this after every muddy ride, it takes quite a lot of water and mud in order to have some inside the Lefty. And don't forget to replace the zip tie to put back the boot in it's place.

All good stuff, and I would add a hole in the boot, as an extra possibility for water getting in, keep an eye on your boot!

Yup, checking the boot for holes or tears and that the zip ties are fine regularly is the most important check up for a Lefty. As soon as there is a hole, replace. I need to replace a zip tie on mine. for some reason, it snapped on my last ride.

It was about time! But my last ride on my Prophet was before the recent cold days.
Funny thing is, I may enter my first bike race... in two weeks, on pure ice with my SS F1000! Check it out.
