After riding only hardtails since I started biking a couple of years ago I began searching for a decent full suspension bike in the under $1500 price range. What a dizzying array of options!!! Just as I was about to purchase an Iron Horse Azure Sport online I ran across a leftover 2005 Fuji Diamond RC at a local LBS priced right at $1500. I have no idea about the quality of Fuji mountain bikes and had not considered them at all. Can anyone please provide some input on this bike as going by the specs it seems like one of those "too good to be true" deals? Here is a link to the bike straight from the Fuji web site. Thank you in advance!

If it fits you and matches your riding style, BUY IT! (assuming, of course, that the parts spec on the website is the same on the bike at the shop)

The only unknown in the deal is the frame (nothing bad about the frame, just a big ?).

I did a quick tabulation of what the compenents (which are all "good" to "very good") would cost if you bought them cheap on the web and I hit $1530, excluding shipping.

If the Fuji frame fails or if you're unhappy with it, you can buy a new frame and swap the parts from the fuji, and you'll still come out ahead. And if the Fuji frame can be sold, you'll make a nice profit.

Let us know what you do.

I have a HT Fuji bottom rung POS bike I bought off my friend for $75. I have replaced every component on it but the frame and original seat post haven't given me a single problem and I road it like I stole it almost every day this past winter.

I've had good experiences with Fuji and from what I can tell those are some excellent components. I'd go for it as long as it fits you well.

Picking Up My New 05' Fuji Diamond RC!!

Thanks to everyone for their input. My LBS (Performance) was nice enough to hold the bike for me a few days while I researched it (I guess it helps that I have already purchased a road bike and a hardtail from them within the last few months) and I have decided to take the plunge on the Fuji Diamond RC. I rode a few other bikes in the price range (Specialized FSRxc Comp, Iron Horse Azure Sport, Iron Horse HP MK III) and I just liked the Fuji better. Since they dropped the price a touch to $1450, and I get 10% of the sale price back in store credit, it just became a no brainer. For the price, the specs are crazy. It's far more bike than I can ever fully utilize, but damn I'm going to feel like I'm going fast when I hit the single track....even if it is just in my own head. Hooboy I'm giddy!!
Thanks again to all of you. I'm going to pick it up this weekend and I'll report back my thoughts on it once I get a little seat time in.
