During a local adventure race 3 weeks ago I crashed on a downhill section filled with lots of other riders. I was thrown over the bars and landed directly on my left shoulder. We had to have been within 500 yards of the finish line. It hurt so bad. I had a SLAP tear on my right shoulder before and it was nothing like this.

The bones separated and then stacked one on top of the other instead of being end to end. The bone pushed up toward the skin leaving a big bump. Medics actually took me to the hospital. My 1st trip in an ambulance. Fun.

A week and a half ago I had surgery to fix it. They used a hook/plate method and screwed it in place. In a few months I'll need another surgery to remove the hardware. I start phys therapy next week. I want to ride so bad.

Has anyone else had something similar? I'd like to be back riding light by August.

I think you're the first on this forum with a shoulder separation like that. Can't say as I've ever read anybody asking about it. Good luck.
