I stripped my left arm (not the one with the gears).....need the arm (170mm). I found some on ebay but the are the deore LX.....will it work?

Then no...the linked arm will not work. You need an Octalink arm, and you need to know which model Deore you have (stamped on the backside of the arm near the pedal threads). Older Deore used a 113mm BB, newer ones used a 121mm. The arms will be offset.

Did you strip the pedal threads...that can be heli-coiled by a competent LBS

I found some cranks on ebay....the arm I need is 170 but if I buy a 175 complete crank, how will the extra 5mm affect my ride?
