Ledil Iris Sublens?

I just got my order of Ledil Iris lenses (both spot and medium optics). The spot optics did not come with the Iris "sublens" as noted in the Iris datasheet. however, the Medium's did. Could the sublens be used to diffuse the beam and turn a spot into a medium? When the sublens is removed from the medium it looks just like a spot. I don't have my LED order yet, so I cannot test them.

I was looking to mix spot and medium in the same housing, but it looks like the lens height might be different.
